The committee was very sorry to learn of the death on 3rd September 2016 of Mike Knox. Mike and his wife Gwen were founder members of the NDWGC when it was created from the Gun Section of the Exeter and District Canine Society. They were a prominent presence in the gundog world with their respected Tauvechan strain of golden retrievers.
Mike served in the Parachute Regiment and enjoyed shooting,fishing, golf and working his dogs in his spare time. He ran spaniels early in his career but then turned his attention to retrievers, achieving considerable success with their home bred dogs.
Mike was field trial secretary of the West Dartmoor Working Gundog Club for several years and was instrumental in the founding of the South West Golden Retriever Club. He was an A Panel retriever judge.
He was married to Gwen for forty nine years and they would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in February. We send our condolences to Gwen and the family at this sad time.
